Solution Architect

🌎 100% Remote🕐 Flexible hours👽 Innovation🎯 Product🚀 Scale-up✨ Best practices

I choose you!

Ash Ketchum would have loved to control Pikachu's electricity like they do at this scale-up, because Plexigrid offers solutions for the efficient management of electrical distribution networks, focused on the transition to more sustainable and decentralised systems.

Now, to continue growing, they are looking for a Solution Architect to join their team, so if you like high-voltage challenges and have a spark, read on! ⚡️

What will you do?

After all those references to Pokémon, the bar has been set pretty high, so you're probably wondering what Plexigrid is and what it does. Well, Plexi is not only a scale-up based in Sweden and Spain, but also a spin-off from the University of Oviedo, focused on optimising electricity distribution networks through software, especially low-voltage networks.

They have four proprietary products (Ari, Tatari, Tia and e-Tia), which are responsible for generating simulations of electrical networks and solutions that seek network flexibility based on real-time load, as well as software to improve the efficiency of operations and monitoring of electrical distribution networks, enabling smarter and more efficient operation.

Plexigrid is building the intelligence layer that will power the 21st-century electricity grid, and it is doing so in environments where reliability and security are non-negotiable.

Plexigrid has designed a real-time AI-powered digital twin that unifies these fragmented systems into a single source. Its platform models and coordinates entire distribution networks with device-level resolution, but unlike typical SaaS, Plexigrid operates in the critical realm of national infrastructure.

Their software has a direct impact on how DSOs stabilise networks, manage risks in real time and keep the lights on for millions of people.

The platform is already in place at leading distribution system operators (DSOs) across Europe, and is rapidly expanding across North America, Australia and New Zealand. As they grow globally, security becomes one of the key differentiators, which is why utilities entrust them with operational control.

🫵🏻What about you?

You will join the Customer Delivery team, responsible for implementing, integrating and commissioning Plexigrid’s solutions within their customers’ environments. They work closely with utilities, network operators and energy sector stakeholders to ensure the platform becomes a seamless and reliable part of their operational environment.

You will work in collaboration with a project manager, participating in the entire delivery lifecycle, from functional analysis, solution design and architecture definition, through to implementation, testing, deployment and long-term support. Much of this work involves collaborating directly with client stakeholders to design high-quality integration solutions that connect their systems, applications and data sources to the Plexigrid platform.

As a solutions architect, you will lead the design and implementation of complex integration solutions for clients. You will define architectures, model interfaces, coordinate data flows and guide implementation across various ecosystems. You will ensure that the solutions are technically sound, secure, easy to maintain and aligned with both the client’s needs and the Plexigrid platform architecture.

You will work closely with client representatives—from the business, operational, IT and engineering sectors—each with different profiles. Your ability to translate business processes, system behaviour and technical constraints will be essential. Internally, you will work with the Product, Engineering, Professional Services and Pre-Sales teams to create cohesive, value-driven integrations.

You will also support and mentor junior team members, helping to build a robust, modern and high-performing systems integration capability.

As a fast-growing start-up, they evolve as they continue to grow, which is why they value adaptable profiles who consider themselves ‘Swiss Army knives’, as roles, teams and responsibilities may change as new opportunities arise. Here you will have the opportunity to influence not only the product, but also the way they work.

Your evolution

Plexigrid
Your day ZERO

In 1 month

During this first month, you will not only get to know the people who will be part of your team, but you will also become familiar with the modus operandi at Plexigrid. As these are days of adaptation, they will focus on training you so that you do not feel lost.

During the first week, you will receive training on electrical engineering and electrical distribution. You will also learn about their applications at the user level and be instructed on architecture and the development life cycle.

In the following weeks, you will be assigned someone to work with you as a shadow until you get the hang of everything.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead functional and technical analysis with clients, translating the results into clear and maintainable solution architectures.

  • Take responsibility for end-to-end delivery, from design and modelling through to implementation, validation and deployment.

  • Define integration patterns, interface contracts and system boundaries in line with Plexigrid’s product architecture.

  • Design and deliver resilient, secure and scalable integration solutions across diverse client environments.

  • Apply modern integration patterns (API-based, event-driven, ETL/ELT, middleware) to deliver value early and incrementally.

  • Balance customisation with best-practice product usage, ensuring robustness and maintainability.

  • Provide practical technical guidance on implementation, including data modelling, transformation, orchestration and error handling.

  • Ensure engineering quality through robust practices in testing, observability, documentation and operational readiness.

  • Foster a DevSecOps mindset and a culture of accountability, technical excellence and continuous learning.

  • Work with stakeholders from the client’s IT, operations, business and engineering departments, including a range of technical roles, as well as with the Product team to share knowledge, drive improvements and support coordination between the product and delivery teams.

  • Mentor junior team members and help

How will you do it?

As a team, of course! You’ll have the support of colleagues from Product, Sales and the client side right from the start, so you’ll be up to speed with the projects and architecture before you know it. But what will your day-to-day be like?

They operate as a modern systems integration organisation, built on collaboration, clarity and incremental delivery. This means you’ll be in constant contact with clients, the Product team and Sales to ensure alignment from the early scoping phases right through to long-term support, because nobody here works in silos.

Projects are managed in phases and waves (wave-based delivery), which allows them to generate value from early stages and iterate continuously. They work with a clear separation between discovery, design, delivery and validation, without losing the agility we need to adapt. Each iteration is analysed in retrospectives to learn and improve, supported by playbooks, architectural reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions that keep the team constantly up to date.

They are big fans of documenting things properly: use cases, interface contracts, integration diagrams, ADRs… If you’ve designed it well, it should be clearly explainable, and that’s something they value highly.

Furthermore, they take standards of reliability, security and operational readiness very seriously in every integration they deliver. It’s not just about making it work, but about ensuring it works well, in the long term and with a view to scalability.

In short, you’ll find a culture of ownership, transparency and multidisciplinary work, where collaboration isn’t just a value on paper but something that’s put into practice every day.

When will you work?

You'll be delighted to know that the only roosters you'll hear here are your neighbours' in the shower because, if you want, no more early mornings!

As you read, whether you like to get up early or need some time to drop the kids off at school, you'll be able to organise yourself flexibly, because you'll find a company that is governed by goal-oriented dynamics and is committed to flexible working hours.

That said, working with clients has its own magic and rhythm. There will be discovery workshops or follow-up meetings where the schedule takes precedence, and you’ll have to work around the client’s timetable. But far from being the norm, these are the moments when the work really comes to life: when you see that what you’ve designed fits, that the client understands it, and that the project is moving forward. For everything else, we try to do what we can to coordinate and meet at certain key times, so that afterwards you have time to focus entirely on what really matters 🙌🏻

Where will you work?

Remote

100%

As the headline spoils, this position is 100% remote! Although they have a sense of team spirit and see each other from time to time. In fact, those based in Gijón would be delighted if you popped in whenever you like. Otherwise, you’ll have the chance to meet up at team-building events!

That said, every now and then you might have to visit a client for a workshop, a presentation or simply to put a face to the video calls. These are rare occasions, but well worth it: there’s nothing quite like a face-to-face meeting to get a project moving again or wrap up a phase on a high note. Apart from that, you can work from wherever you like 🧑‍💻

Who will you work with?

Now that you know what you will be doing, how, when and where, you will want to know a fundamental part of your day-to-day work: who will you be working with?
