Lead Product Manager
Can you imagine if shopping online were as easy as saying Alohomora 🪄 and unlocking the door to everything you need — at the best price, without wasting half your life comparing? With Joko, that magic is real: a smart app that finds coupons for you, applies discounts automatically, and gives you cashback on what you spend.
But they’re going further. Joko is currently developing a powerful Shopping Assistant, with a bold mission to reinvent the way people shop online — making it easier, smarter, and more rewarding than ever.
They're now looking for a Lead Product Manager to spearhead the development of this magical experience—someone with product vision, a strategic mindset, and a passion for creating solutions that millions of people use (and enjoy) every day.
What will you do?
🧙♂️ Before we dive into the good stuff… a bit of context
Joko was born in Xavier’s living room — but not just any living room. That’s where the idea to change the way we shop online forever began brewing. In 2018, three friends — Xavier, Alexandre, and Nicolas — came together with a shared obsession: making shopping easy, efficient, and not a soul-draining hop from site to site.
They brought some serious experience with them: Xavier had led a travel portal at Jumia (Africa’s largest e-commerce platform), Alexandre came from building scalable tech at Criteo, and Nicolas had a background in banking and public sector. This definitely wasn’t their first spell.
Through their years in e-commerce, they realized online shopping still had tons of pain points. So, they decided to create a platform that would help people make smarter purchase decisions, save money, and do it all powered by technology and data.
Here’s how Xavier, CEO and co-founder, tells it:
Today, Joko is a certified B Corp helping over 4 million users save money across more than 7,000 stores — and they’re just getting started. They’re expanding fast in the U.S., and their next big mission is building an AI-powered shopping assistant that understands what you want... even before you finish your sentence.
It’s a product that goes far beyond cashback: It integrates automatic coupons, price‑drop alerts, carbon footprint tracking, and even a Buy Now, Pay Later system.
And if that wasn’t enough, they’re now building a shopping assistant with AI that could easily be Dobby’s techie cousin: it knows what you want before you say it, recommends products wisely, and helps you save without lifting a finger.
But what we love most about Joko — and we say this loud and proud — is how they work: radical transparency, open access to information (yes, even board decks), real trust in people, and one principle we absolutely adore:
“Culture is the product we build for our team.”
And just so you know we’re not making this up 😉, here’s a link where you can read about their vision of technology and product. 👉 (link to article or resource, if available)
😍 I already want to join this project 😍… So, what’s the main challenge as a Lead Product Manager?
The product team works across several key areas:
- Products: Revolutionize product discovery and price comparison by using innovative tools like Large Language Models (LLMs) to create a universal catalog that helps users make informed shopping decisions.
- Online Shopping: Optimize Joko’s core online shopping experience, focusing on features like cashback, coupons, and buy now, pay later—to drive user engagement and revenue growth.
- Banking: Oversee bank connections, budgeting tools, and the quality of banking data—ensuring smooth financial integrations that power key features like in-store cashback and personalized insights.
- Growth: Focus on user acquisition, retention, and referrals—working closely with marketing to build onboarding flows, maximize feature adoption, and ensure privacy and regulatory compliance.
- Platform: Manage Joko’s core app infrastructure, including navigation, feature discovery, and wallet management—while promoting responsible shopping and ensuring a seamless user journey.
As Lead Product Manager, your key role will be to coordinate multiple product squads while also personally leading strategic company-wide projects. You’ll manage and mentor a team of Product Managers, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals. You’ll report directly to the VP of Product. This role blends strategic planning, product leadership, and innovation across multiple business areas.
The main challenge? Striking the right balance between leading and staying close to the product. You’ll need to be a hands-on leader, deeply understanding the day-to-day work to guide your team more effectively. At the same time, you’ll act as the bridge between engineering, design, marketing, and business—ensuring everyone is aligned and decisions are grounded in real data and user needs. The key is to be approachable, support your PMs' growth, and keep a clear vision to take the product to the next level.
If this role sounds like you—amazing! But if your profile is a better fit for a Product Manager position without leadership experience, feel free to check out that opportunity too. 👀
Your evolution

In 1 month
You’ll focus on getting familiar with the team, Joko’s culture, and the key products we’re working on. You’ll join strategic meetings to understand our vision and current processes, while beginning to build strong relationships with the Product Managers under your leadership, as well as key stakeholders in Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Data.
Your responsibilities
Team Leadership: Mentor, develop, and lead high-performing Product Managers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Roadmap Development: Oversee the creation and execution of product roadmaps across multiple product lines, ensuring alignment with company goals and market needs.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with product, engineering, marketing, and business teams to ensure smooth product development and launch processes.
Product Strategy: Help define and execute the product strategy, aligning it with the company’s mission and business objectives. Lead the development of new product initiatives and the evolution of existing products.
Market Intelligence: Stay up to date with market trends, the competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform product decisions and maintain Joko’s innovative edge.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analysis and user feedback to drive product decisions and measure success.
How will you do it?
Joko’s methodology stands apart from traditional models like Scrum sprints or fixed squad structures. Instead, the company follows a more agile, flexible, and problem-oriented approach.
Rather than relying on permanent squads, Joko forms task forces: small, cross-functional teams assembled to solve a specific problem or deliver a particular feature.
A typical task force includes:
- 1 Product Manager
- 1 to 2 Engineers
- 1 Designer (if the project requires it)
- Other roles such as Operations, Support, or Data, depending on the topic
These teams have a clear mission: to solve a defined challenge or ship a specific functionality. Once the goal is achieved, the task force can disband or reorganize based on new priorities.
Work doesn’t follow fixed cycles or externally imposed timelines. Each feature or solution is released as soon as it’s ready, allowing the team to move fast and maintain quality without unnecessary pressure.
The process is designed to foster:
- Efficiency (no unnecessary meetings or bureaucracy)
- Team autonomy
- Collaboration in distributed and asynchronous environments
This setup allows each task force to operate quickly and with focus, without losing alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
While there’s a high degree of freedom and minimal operational hierarchy, quality is never left to chance. Joko applies a practice known as bar raising, which involves active peer review and a shared culture of high standards to ensure consistent excellence in everything that’s delivered.
When will you work?
Flexible schedule. ⏰
Everyone organizes their time in the way that works best for them, because the team trusts that if you’re treated like an adult… you’ll act like one. There are no fixed hours or daily stand-ups that feel like a post-it note reminder: instead, there are sync meetings every other day, time set aside for technical tasks, and real space to think.

FlexibleWhere will you work?
Remote
In-person
This position is 100% remote from Spain or France, so you can work from wherever you want: your home, a café with good Wi-Fi, or that coworking space with plants and kombucha you’ve been eyeing 😁
Want to work from a terrace in Valencia? Great. From a rural house in Galicia? Perfect. You can even work remotely from abroad for up to 3 months a year if you feel like a change of scenery (and time zone). Just make sure you have a good connection, a good attitude, and a willingness to contribute. The rest is up to you.
That said, if you live in Barcelona, you’ll be close to one of their offices and can drop by whenever you want: to see faces, share ideas, or just snag some branded pens.
The important thing is that you live somewhere well-connected, because occasionally there will be meetings or events in Paris or Barcelona, and they’d like you to be able to make it without having to tame logistical dragons.
Who will you work with?
The current PM team is around 6 people. I recommend taking a quick look here 👁️ to get to know a good part of the team a bit better. And to give you a head start on some names, you'll be working closely with:
- Fabien Levrey, VP of Product: Fabien has over 10 years of experience in the digital product world. He’s worked at startups, scale-ups, and consulting firms that look impressive on LinkedIn. He’s led teams, launched products, and evangelized best practices with the determination of a saint. Now he’s at Joko as VP of Product, and he probably already has some stories worth sharing over a beer.
- Victor Ruelle, Lead Product Manager: Victor joined Joko in 2020 and has worn almost every hat in the product team: he started as Founders Associate, became the first Product Manager, and is now a member of the Product leadership. Coming from a technical background (the kind that makes you think he probably talks to robots), he’s now focused on building a shopping experience that makes users smile… and keeps them from ever wanting to leave the app.
- Thomas Destaing, Designer Lead: Thomas has over 10 years of experience leading design teams in startups and tech scale-ups. He’s mastered turning chaos into harmony with his conductor’s touch, coordinating up to 15 designers across two continents and making design and engineering dance to the same beat.
And even though the team is spread across Paris, Barcelona, and other parts of Europe, collaboration is so seamless you’ll feel like they’re sitting right next to you (without having to share your lunchbox).
What are they asking for?
On their “wish list,” the team is hoping for a new Product Manager who brings:
- 5+ years of full-time experience in Product, including significant leadership experience, preferably in a fast-growing tech company or consumer tech startup.
- A track record of managing and mentoring high-performing Product Managers in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- A strong understanding of technology and how to leverage it in product development.
- Solid business acumen—you understand the commercial side of product management and know how to align product strategy with overall business goals.
- A proven ability to drive innovation and successfully bring new ideas to market.
- An entrepreneurial mindset—you thrive on challenges, embrace feedback, and constantly seek to improve.
- A sharp eye for emerging product trends—you’re the kind of person who downloads new mobile apps as soon as they launch.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences—from technical teams to senior executives.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.

What the FAQ?
Even though Joko is 100% remote, this role is currently intended for people based in Spain or France — ideally in Barcelona or somewhere well-connected to Paris or the Catalan capital (just in case you need to hop on a train or a plane once in a while).
Initial Call (20 min) with the Hiring Manager (Fabien) A first touchpoint to get to know you, understand your background, and give you more context about the role.
Personality Interview (45 min) with two team members An opportunity to explore how you work, your communication style, and how you collaborate with others.
Case Study + Debrief (45 min) with team members: You’ll receive a case study and then, you’ll present your approach and discuss your decisions with the team. The goal is to understand how you think, prioritize, and structure solutions.
Founders Interview (45 min): A more strategic conversation to evaluate your vision, decision-making style, and how well you align with the company’s mission.
Reference Calls: Finally, 5–6 reference calls will be conducted before extending an offer.
Super important. The team is distributed, written communication is everywhere, and the whole interviews are in English. You don’t have to sound like Benedict Cumberbatch on the BBC, but you do need to write clearly and explain your ideas well.
