📈 Growing company🌎 International team💪 Technical challenge⛰️ Solid in its sector

ERI Bancaire is establishing a new Development and Innovation Hub in Madrid to meet the demands of its various branches and clients. All ERI’s clients are banks or financial institutions from over 60 countries, relying on the OLYMPIC Banking System for their core operations.

They’re currently strengthening their teams and technology to blend the solid foundations of a company with over 30 years of experience with the energy of a young, cutting-edge environment. The challenge? Combining robustness with innovation! 🔄 🚀

They’re looking for a Tech Lead to help build a new engineering team ready to tackle this significant challenge. Could it be you? 🦸‍♂️

What will you do?

First, let’s set the scene 📖

Allow me to introduce you to ERI Bancaire and the thrilling adventure ahead. This is a project in its early stages in Spain, offering you the chance to face tech challenges, help create and grow a team, thrive in a dynamic and ambitious corporate culture, and enjoy the security and stability of a proven market leader.

What is OLYMPIC Banking System? It’s an all-in-one software solution for banking and financial management, developed by ERI Bancaire. This system is designed to handle a wide range of operational needs for banks and financial institutions, enabling secure and efficient management of various banking operations.

The system’s main goal is to address the needs of different banks and financial institutions, gathered by ERI’s on-site consultants and translated by Business Analysts (BAs). The Madrid engineering team will bring these requirements to life based on a detailed roadmap.

There’s also an innovation unit that will proactively create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) based on client needs. Think AI, web/mobile development, blockchain and crypto, big data, tech integration, Open API, Cloud, Onboarding Solutions, Voice/Facial Recognition—the sky’s the limit.

As a Tech Lead, you’ll be the cornerstone of the new team, guiding it with leadership and ensuring high-quality, efficient development. 🚀✨

Revamp the front end of OLYMPIC (used by bank employees), with full autonomy and trust to make it happen.

  • Leading and coordinating a full-stack development team, assigning tasks, setting clear objectives, and ensuring deadlines are met 📅. You’ll keep the team aligned and motivated.
  • Collaborating closely with other teams, particularly Business and Quality, to ensure smooth system integration. Communication and teamwork are key to project success. 🤝
  • Carrying out corrective or evolutionary development based on technical analysis provided by the BAs, then passing solutions to the Quality team for validation 📋.
  • Delivering robust, high-quality, scalable code. You’ll lead the design, development, and maintenance, ensuring adherence to security and performance standards. 🔒⚡
  • Optimizing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and response times ⏱️.
  • Integrating backend systems with internal and external systems, including front-end upgrades, payment systems, third-party APIs, CRMs, and more. Interoperability will be your mantra. 🔗
  • Troubleshooting complex technical problems, collaborating closely with other tech team members. Your problem-solving skills will be critical.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest tech trends and tools, researching and assessing new languages, frameworks, or tools to enhance existing systems. Innovation will be part of your daily routine. 🔍
  • Participating in team recruitment, selecting the best-fit members for this exciting challenge. Plus, you’ll help them grow professionally under your guidance.

Your evolution

ERI Bancaire
Your day ZERO

In 1 month

In the beginning, you’ll integrate into the team, getting to know its culture and internal processes. You’ll receive specific training, both technical (frameworks, development procedures, protocols, etc.) and functional, to gain a deep understanding of OLYMPIC—the mega-software that banks rely on.

You’ll dive into the architecture and start tackling simpler and lighter development tasks. As you get more comfortable, you’ll immerse yourself in the technologies they use. You’ll also participate in planning meetings, where you’ll review your progress and set clear goals for the upcoming period. 🎓

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a team of full-stack developers, ensuring smooth workflows and clear objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with other teams, particularly Development and Quality Assurance at the headquarters.

  • Deliver robust, high-quality, and scalable code that meets or exceeds expectations.

  • Optimize system performance by improving efficiency and response times.

  • Oversee integrations, ensuring seamless connections between various systems.

  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues with creativity and precision.

  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and development trends, always bringing innovation to the table. 🚀

How will you do it?

ERI uses a proprietary app integrated with Jira to manage and track all developments, whether evolutionary or corrective. The process flows as follows:

  1. The consultant at the client site outlines requirements (functional analysis).
  2. The Business Analyst translates them (technical analysis) and provides an initial workload estimate.
  3. Once the task reaches your squad, it’s go time.
  4. The team completes, tests, and documents both the work and the tests.
  5. The work is handed off to the Quality unit for further testing before going live.
  6. After deployment, the post-production Quality unit performs a final check.
  7. Lastly, the Documentation unit updates the user manual—and translates it if needed!

Backend tech:

  • OLYMPIC’s business services are developed in Java, SQL, and COBOL and published via an internal SOA bus.
  • The SOA bus enables data exchange between services, ensuring portability using J2EE standards wherever possible.
  • In specific cases, C/C++ is used for specialized modules.

Development processes:

  • Agile methodologies guide all development and deployment standards.
  • GitLab is used for projects, with automated production and integration processes.
  • Version control systems include CVS, SVN, and GitLab.

When will you work?

At ERI, the day starts at 9:00 AM, but don’t worry—if you’re someone who needs a coffee to kick things off, there’s plenty of time for that! ☕

The workday wraps up at 5:30 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break at 2:00 PM to recharge and refuel.

In short, it’s a 7.5-hour workday, 5 days a week, following the Spanish mainland schedule, which aligns closely with Western European Time. ⏰
