Hi there! Let me introduce you SeQura, an innovative, fast-growing fintech company based in sunny Barcelona.

Born in 2013, they are the preferred “buy now, pay later” payment platform in Southern Europe for over 2 million shoppers. Want to help people buy things they love, paying in an instant and in a fair and flexible way?

What will you do?

You will become part of a young and ambitious team that is going through one of its most exciting and growing moments since its foundation.

🤨 Tell me something about SeQura

SeQura is on a mission to offer merchants an innovative payment solution through transformative customer experience that increases sales conversion, customer loyalty, and lifetime value.

SeQura’s platform has been designed and built to humanize financial services, and this is the reason why all its work and actions are based on transparency, collaboration and respect.

Working together with SeQura, you will be contributing to make this platform grow and offer a better service. Not only to the more than 5000 Merchants and more than 2 million Shoppers that use it every day, but to all those who are still to come. Just so you know, users have led them to the highest NPS in their industry in Spain. ¡87% of very happy faces! 😍

🤔 Hum... How do I know this is serious?

SeQura is a privately-owned scaleup growing at a 67% CAGR and approaching 50 Million in Annual Recurring Revenue. With a core business of flexible payments growing significantly above the market, this year they are launching new product categories, lines of business and expanding to international markets. Over 5000 businesses, almost 2 million shoppers and almost 300 employees continue to rate them as one of the most loved and trusted fintechs out there, with an NPS of 87%, a Trustpilot rating of 4.8 / 5, and a Glassdoor rating of 4.8 / 5.

🧩 Where do I fit into this puzzle?

The engineering team is organized on a project basis. They have a lot of new projects, so they need senior engineers that are able, like you are, of launching and leading them to success.

They have a lot of technical challenges and amazing ideas in their pipeline. With your help, they will soon see the light of day.

Your mission will be to develop new products from the backend. To do so, you won’t find better weapons than your mastery of Ruby on Rails, or the ability and interest in working with it. You don’t need to be a RoR expert (it would be great if you were 🤩). You just need to be an expert developer in Python, Elixir, Java, PHP, etc. and have the ability and interest to code in Ruby.

You will develop new features, deploy product increments and maintain existing code. There is no room for boredom.

Your evolution

SeQura
Your day ZERO

In 1 month

You will have been received with open arms (virtually speaking) and by then you’ll be one of the team.

This first month, you’re going to absorb info like a sponge. Onboarding + ramping up with different members of the team, looking at the tools, processes, rituals, stack, stakeholders and more.

Prepare pen and paper!

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to technical and architectural decisions.

  • Design and implement backend features that improve platform availability and scalability while keeping latency down.

  • Deliver robust and maintainable code with appropriate test coverage.

  • Take ownership of new product improvements and increments.

  • You may have to create new teams.

How will you do it?

At the moment, the development team consists of approximately 40 people and there are plans to grow it with, at least, 20 more members. They are opening new markets such as Southern Europe and LATAM, and that’s why they’re looking for ambitious and passionate people.

Development teams are small and usually consist of 4 to 6 people. There are usually 2 or 3 backend developers working together with a frontend specialist. Additional members may be added depending on the complexity, tasks and needs of the team.

Teams are kept small to:

  • Improve their autonomy and self-management capabilities.
  • Keep them agile.
  • Encourage support and teamwork.

You’ll manage your work together under agile methodologies. Internal organization is flat, with no marked hierarchies or pyramid structures. Communication, collaboration and teamwork is what best defines day-to-day life at SeQura.

Workflow is organized in sprints. Product Managers are in charge of prioritizing tasks and assigning them to each team. You will closely work with the product team, so that business requirements and new software deployments will always be perfectly aligned.
