Telness Tech is rethinking how telecom should work in the digital era.

Born in Sweden and expanding across the USA and Europe, their SaaS platform, Seamless OS, enables both telecom and non-telecom companies to launch and operate fully digital communication services with speed, flexibility, and scale.

As the platform grows across markets and products, data becomes a core part of how the company operates, from understanding product usage to supporting key business decisions. To keep moving fast without losing control, Telness Tech is now looking for a Founding Data Engineer: someone ready to build the first real data foundations of the company, starting hands-on and growing into broader ownership over time.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of engineering, product, and business. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, have direct exposure to the C-level, and play a key role in shaping how data is built, trusted, and used as Telness Tech enters its next stage of growth.

¿Qué harás?

At Telness Tech, they’re building the technology that allows modern telecom brands to launch, scale, and operate entirely in the cloud. Their platform powers both their own operator and multiple customers across Europe and the US, and as the business grows, data becomes critical to keeping everything running smoothly.

That’s where you come in.

As a Founding Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building the first solid data foundations of the company. Your initial focus will be very hands-on: designing and building reliable data pipelines, models, and workflows that turn raw data into something the business can actually trust and use.

You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand what data is needed today, and help make sure it’s available, accurate, and easy to access. From product analytics to operational reporting, you’ll help define the metrics that matter and ensure they’re built on top of solid engineering.

A big part of the role will be about automation and reliability. You’ll help reduce manual work by introducing Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and better tooling around the data stack, making sure data systems scale without adding operational overhead.

This isn’t a purely execution-focused role. As you grow into the position, you’ll start shaping how data is modelled, documented, and governed across the company. You won’t be expected to arrive with a full data strategy on day one, but you will be encouraged to learn, ask questions, and gradually take more ownership over how data supports both product and business decisions.

You’ll work closely with the Platform team and have direct exposure to senior stakeholders, including the C-level, with real influence over technical decisions. In short: you’ll help turn data into a reliable backbone for Telness Tech’s next stage of growth, starting as a builder, and growing into a key reference for data across the company.

Tu primer día

En 1 mes

In your first month, you’ll settle into the Platform team, auditing their current Snowflake/AWS setup and taking over the daily maintenance of their pipelines to move away from the "faking it" phase.

Tus responsabilidades

  • Professionalize Data Foundations: Take the current Snowflake and AWS setup from "functional" to "production-grade". You’ll automate manual processes, implement robust monitoring, and move them toward a low-maintenance, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) model.

  • Architect the Pipeline Journey: Take full ownership of how data flows from ingestion to analytics-ready datasets. You will decide when it's time to address technical debt and pick the right technology.

  • Be the Technical "Wingman": Join the Platform Team as the first dedicated data expert. You’ll collaborate directly with leadership and product teams to translate business questions into reliable data capabilities, no layers of middle management in between.

  • Solve End-to-End Data Puzzles: Dive deep into modeling and reliability challenges. Whether it's ensuring data consistency or building the "single pane of glass" dashboard that their sales team is dreaming of, you’ll make sure the data just works.

  • Set the Standard for "What Good Looks Like": Even if you aren't managing a team yet, you will lead the tech. You’ll define the best practices for observability, scalability, and data quality that will allow Telness Tech to grow from thousands to millions of users.

¿Cómo lo harás?

You’ll join the Platform Team, a small and highly autonomous group led by Tobias (Platform & Data Manager). You won’t be just another cog in the machine; you’ll be the first dedicated data expert in a team where everyone takes real ownership of what they build.

The development culture is pragmatic and focused on "what good looks like". You’ll work in an environment where decisions are made based on impact and data, not hierarchy. You’ll have the freedom to audit the current stack, suggest improvements, and choose the tools (like dbt) that will take the platform to the next level.

And you won’t be on your own: while you’ll own the data domain, you’ll work hand-in-hand with platform engineers and have a direct line to the VP of Product and C-level management to gather requirements and turn them into reality. The goal is to move fast, professionalizing our infrastructure while keeping simplicity and scalability at the core.

¿Cuándo trabajarás?

At Telness Tech, collaboration is the engine that drives the platform, which is why the team stays synch during a central window. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00 CET (including a one-hour lunch break), but you won't find a rigid, "clock-in" culture here.

They believe in genuine flexibility: you can start and finish up to an hour earlier or later (starting between 7:00 and 9:00 CET) to adapt to your personal life. What matters most to them is impact and accountability, not just "desk time". Many team members have school-aged children and often adjust their start times or step away for school runs. As long as you are available for the 9:30 stand-ups and stay aligned with the team, you’ll have the autonomy to manage your own schedule.

Telness Tech is a remote-friendly company with its headquarters in Stockholm 🇸🇪 and a growing footprint in Spain 🇪🇸. While the engineering core is based in Sweden, they are currently establishing a tech hub in Madrid as part of their global expansion.

For this role, they are looking for someone based in the Madrid region to join them in a hybrid setup. You’ll have the best of both worlds: the focus and comfort of working from home, combined with 1 or 2 days a week in the office to collaborate in person and help build the local culture from the ground up.

Communication is open and transparent, and you’ll be working daily with the Platform team in Stockholm. You’ll also have the chance to visit the Swedish headquarters occasionally for team meetups, planning sessions, or to simply grab a fika ☕ with your colleagues in person.

¿Con quién trabajarás?

The Engineering team at Telness Tech is around 20 people today, a well-balanced, experienced and collaborative group building the platform that powers digital telecom services across Europe.

New talent will join in the coming months, but here are some of the people you’ll be working closely with:

Around them, you’ll find a talented group of backend, frontend, infrastructure, and product engineers, passionate about building clean, resilient systems that enable seamless communication for Telness Tech’s partners and users.

¿Qué piden?

They’re looking for a hands-on builder with a solid foundation in data engineering who is ready to take the lead on a foundational project. This is about having the technical maturity to know what a "production-grade" environment looks like.

The Tech Stack: You should be a native in SQL and Python. Experience operating in cloud environments is a must, and if you’ve already worked with Snowflake and AWS, you’ll hit the ground running.

The "T-Shaped" Engineer: You are comfortable designing data models and pipelines, but you also have the curiosity to explore Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, or even building the dashboards that the business is missing.

Pragmatic Problem Solver: You know how to balance speed with quality. Ideally, you’ve seen how data platforms scale (and fail) and can bring those lessons to help Telness Tech avoid common pitfalls.

Bridge-Builder: You’ll be working directly with the C-level and Product leads. The ability to translate a business question into a clear technical solution is what will make you successful here.

Ownership Mindset: Most importantly, they value someone who doesn't wait for a manual. You enjoy the "greenfield" challenge of professionalizing a stack and setting the standards for how data should be handled.

At Telness Tech, you’ll join a company that truly lives by what it builds, a place where technology, trust, and people go hand in hand.

They offer:

  • 💰 A salary of up to €70 000/year, depending on your experience and what you bring to the team.
  • 🌴 30 days of paid vacation per year.
  • 💡 Equity options (Optional). You’ll share in the success you help create.
  • 🚀 Learning and growth opportunities. You’ll have time and budget for courses, conferences, or anything that helps you stay ahead in RTC and beyond.

What the FAQ?

The process is designed to be straightforward and focused on your technical "builder" mindset. Here is how it looks:

  • First chat with Tobias Widén: You’ll meet the Hiring Manager (Platform & Data) to get to know each other, discuss your experience, and understand the mission.
  • Take-home Assessment: You’ll work on a small, real-world data set. It’s an open-ended task where they aren't just looking for code, but for your critical thinking, how you handle assumptions, and your ability to build something "production-grade".
  • Technical Interview: A deeper dive into your skills, likely with Tobias and another member of the engineering team to swap impressions and talk shop.
  • Final fit: Throughout the process, you might also meet other key stakeholders from the leadership team, like the VP of Product, to ensure there’s a strong cultural and strategic alignment.

They value your time and move fast, the whole process usually takes just a few weeks from the first chat to the offer 🚀

Yes, but the role requires 1-2 days presence in the Madrid hub per week.
